Social is the word pertaining to the society about the condition/status of living. Science means a branch of study or exact knowledge obtained by observation and testing of facts in pursuit of such knowledge. Ever since man has identified himself as a social animal, his findings out of search and research about the society is named as social science.

As a social democrate, Thathuvagnani Vethathiri Maharishi, a great saint who wished the society to move by peaceful co-existence of human being in any part of the world. Swamiji stresses that for the mankind to live in peace, the society has to adopt reforms in four major fields which are,

1. Social Reforms,
2. Political Reforms,
3. Economic Reforms, and
4. Respect to Women hood.

Development in any one of the field alone cannot guarantee for peace and harmony for any society. Hence reformation in social, economical, political and Spiritual field together can only help the society to live in peace and harmony.
