One of the most remarkable phenomena of our times is the interest evinced in Yoga
by the intellectuals of many countries throughout the world. In India, Yoga has
always been looked upon as an intrinsic need for leading a complete, fruitful and
integrated life. Many Seers (Rishis) of this ancient land have spent their lives
in developing this Science and making their own contributions to it from time to
time. Their experiences have been varied and so too their contributions. As a result,
we find today that there are several systems of Yoga, each one with its own method
of approach. But the aim of all these different systems is the same viz., that man
should realise his real Self and live in harmony and peace with himself and the
society in which he is born.
Very early in my life, I started experimenting with the various systems of Yoga.
After more than two decades of practice and research, I found that Raja Yoga is
best suited for our Age and the only hope for modern man with his awakened and questioning
intellect. At the same time, I had to accept that the old method of learning the
Yoga was a very difficult one and almost impossible for the common man to practise.
The restrictions imposed and the conditions prescribed were so many that the ordinary
individual, especially the normal family-man, could never think of practising this
Yoga. As I felt that such a great Science should be brought within the reach of
everyone who is eager to learn it, I decided to formulate a practical and simplified
method.
The result of my endeavour through the years is the Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY)
explained in this book. Thousands have been initiated in this method both in India
and abroad and the results achieved have fully justified my expectations. Except
the method of Meditation explained in Chapter 2, the other processes in this Yoga
can be practised by any aspirant with the help of the instructions contained in
this book. The process of Meditation alone has to be learnt from me personally or
from a Master who has been trained by me in this system of Yoga. If anyone of my
readers, in any country, wants to learn this Yoga and is not able to meet me personally
or get to know a qualified Master, he may write to me. I shall certainly help him
and make suitable arrangements for teaching him this Science.
I wish however to remind my readers that this method of Yoga is not just a technique
in Concentration, nor merely a new method of Meditation. It is something more; in
fact it is very much more. It is a method aimed to change the very thought-pattern
of the individual in order to bring about a total transformation and lead him on
to peace and perfection - to transform the ordinary man weighed down by his problems
and complexes and limited by his body-consciousness into a colossus anchored in
God-Consciousness, marching with confident strides towards success and Realisation
and spreading happiness and peace all round.
About ten years ago, I was able to perfect the Simplified Kaya Kalpa Yoga as an
adjunct to and advance on SKY. I had been at the research for 40 years, but a missing
link could not be located during that period. It was a supremely gratifying moment
when I was enabled to bring the theory to fruition. After field-study for two years,
I revealed the Simplified Kaya Kalpa Yoga to the public in December 1981. It is
a simple physical exercise with an inbuilt element of psychic practice and the objective
is to reverse the ageing process
so that the practitioner may have good health and an agile mind which would enable
and equip him to realise ' the purpose of life. Aspirants in India and abroad have
reported excellent results. This Yoga, however, was taught by me in person until
some Masters were trained and duly authorised by me.
This book, which is in the manner of a Manual for aspirants and practitioners of
SKY, was out of print for some years and there has been great demand for it. The
book has now been revised extensively and enlarged. I have no doubt that it would
be found to be an invaluable guide to all those keen on improving the quality of
their life.
I dedicate this book to all sincere seekers of Truth throughout the world, irrespective
of caste, community and creed, irrespective of language, customs and cultures, irrespective
of the many demarcations and barriers with which humanity has divided itself, forgetting
its universality and oneness, forgetting the one indivisible, all-pervading and
Eternal Truth out of which all things animate and inanimate have come into being.
