This book, Philosophy of Universal Magnetism, is sincerely dedicated to Dr. Albert Einstein, who sought to discover the Unified Force believing that science and religion should join in the search for Truth. Dear sisters, brothers, research-minded youth and sincere leaders of social welfare: I introduce myself as a common man having sincere, unconditional love and spiritual compassion towards mankind. Like you, I was born and lived as an innocent child. In my seventh year, my loving father induced in me a desire to know about God and life. Year by year this noble desire developed in me to a craving to know God and life. Throughout my childhood, my mind was engaged in the same thought. I questioned several elderly people whom I thought would have enlightenment in spiritual knowledge. I could not get any satisfactory answers. One saintly person dedicated in spiritual knowledge told me, "God is confusion and life is a problem"! With this statement I became disappointed, but stagnation of my zeal continued only for a short time. As my age grew I found an acceleration in my instinct to know about God and life. Unexpectedly I met a spiritual guru who taught me an inner travel practice. He raised my centre of life-force, which is the genetic centre, and advised me to meditate on it. It was a wonderful feeling, and my mental frequency was brought to a subtler state step by step - ultimately to the Static State with awareness. First, I realized my life-force with its bio-magnetic wave, and then as the base of it I realized my consciousness and that only as "I". Self realization was achieved with full and clear satisfaction that the Conscious-ness, Static State, a formless and subjective phenomena in me is Self. At the same time, I could realize that the psychic extension of Consciousness is mind. It appeared to me intuitively as water and wave. The Static State, Consciousness, is like water and its feeling process and all experiences through the senses as mind are like waves. I developed an interest to watch the wonderful drama of my mind inside through the sixth sense and outside through the five senses. In this dedicated research I came to know the great secret of physical transformation of bio-magnetism into pressure, sound, light, taste., smell and mind. Also I realized the fact that the same Consciousness beyond my physical body is functioning as Universal Consciousness, maintaining the order of function in every thing from smallest particle to greatest sun. My mind and living experiences became full of ecstasy. I am not a scientist to explain the natural truth with physical demonstration and mathematical calculations to the scientific world. Nor am I an authorised spiritual head to teach my findings to the people of unquestioning faith. I was leading the life of an ordinary family man. Day by day there was a churning force of spiritual knowledge to impart my knowledge to all people of the world. I began by explaining the Truth to my close friends. Gradually the receptivity of the people led me to establish an association by the name of "World Community Service Centre" on August 14, 1958. Through our monthly magazine. Anboli, I have published numerous articles explaining the philosophy of Nature from the primordial state, God, to the ultimate end of mankind. My philosophy of magnetism touched the hearts of several people of the world. One spiritual friend, Mr. Ramalinga Patil, took the lead to establish a spiritual foundation in Munster, Indiana, U.S.A. by the name of The International Educational Research Foundation for Vethathiri Law of Unified Force. In the same year of 1987, under the leadership of Arul Nidhi N. Somasundaram, an Asian Chapter of the same foundation was established in Madras, India. Under the auspices of these two institutions, my findings are explained through seminars where science and philosophy meet.

I find a growing desire in many people to know about the subjective phenomena God, life and universal magnetism. In 1991 during my annual month of silence and prayer for world peace, I compiled all my concepts regarding the Philosophy of Universal Magnetism into one volume. Our friends were enthusiastic to publish this book to further the enlightenment of spiritual seekers. I am glad and thank them all . This book, philosophy of Universal Magnetism, is written and published under the category of philosophy but it will also be of much use for the natural scientists and research scholars for the following reasons:

1) A clue is given to identify the Unified Force,

2) The origin of gravitational force and all aspects of energy particles are explained. This will be helpful to the physicists.

3) The origin of living beings, i.e. the juncture between inanimate matter and animate beings is explained. This will be useful for biologists.

4) The existence, functions and results of mind are detailed, which will be useful for psychologists. Consciousness is explained as an inseparable, inherent character of Eternal Space (Unified Force). It projects its spiritual value as the order of function beginning from the energy particles and signifies its character in everything throughout the evolutionary process finally resulting as the human mind. This will enlighten the researchers to realize the mind and nature of God.

5) The secret of the genetic centre is revealed as a spiritual treasure of living beings; it is created by the centripetal force of bio-magnetism. This will be helpful for research into genetics.

6) A transcendental state of consciousness is emphasized through the inner travel practice, and total perspective knowledge is induced to cross all the illusions of mind. As the realization of Truth and Consciousness is made easy, Truth seekers can be benefitted in their search.

The earth is one and the sea is one, although they seem to be several by the intervention of one another. Humanity is one and the goal of all is the same. Every one is born, lives and dies at a certain time. During the period of living one should understand the value of life, friendship and peace and lead a peaceful and harmonious life. To achieve this goal the realization of Truth and Consciousness is a must. With this light of knowledge each person is to do his duty to help others know the Truth and lead a successful life. By the divinely induced force of duty consciousness, I present this book to the world community for reading, digesting and deriving the benefits in all walks of life. I am sure that in due course this philosophy will be introduced in the educational curriculum to the adolescent students for development of their personalities to be good citizens of the world community.

I am happy to go through the book Philosophy of Universal Magnetism by Vethathiri Maharishi. On pages 4,12,24 etc. of this book, the philosopher is able to show that there is a minimum distance between any two particles. This idea appeals to me as a student of physics because this can lead to the concept of the universal least length and the de Brogue momentum corresponding to this length may be interpreted as the limiting momentum which would have pleased Nobel Laureate Werner Heisenberg, had he lived today. The existence of the universal least length is likely to lead to interesting results.

Richard P. Feynman, one of the most gifted and inspiring teachers of the 20th century and Nobel Laureate in physics, has stated in p.1-10 of Vol.11 of the famous Feynman Lectures in physics that the phenomena of chemical interactions and, ultimately, of life itself are to be understood in terms of electromagnetism. The philosophy of Maharishi also leads to this interesting result.

Maharishi suggests that all particles are just manifestations of the same energy particle. This concept is appealing. However, only future experiments will tell us whether this is true or not.

As the philosopher is not a trained physicist, one comes across a number of conflicting terms and Inaccurate terminologies. What Maharishi has found by inner travel and intuition should be translated into an acceptable theory by scientists and I sincerely hope that the day is not far off. Maharishi himself has arranged a number of meetings with scientists towards the realization of this goal. If a complete theory could come out of his ideas, the dream of Stephen W. Hawking of knowing the mind of God by philosophers, scientists, and everyone could be realized.

I consider myself as a privileged, fortunate and blessed individual to have had the opportunity not only to associate myself with Vethathiri Maharishi but also to some extent understand his comprehensive, intuitive, rational and revelationist Philosophy of Universal Magnetism, the understanding of which can definitely solve many of the complex problems of modern man. Purely empirical and rational approach involving sensory perceptions cannot answer the question of the nature of reality. This is also being confirmed by the quantum and wave mechanics of physics. Unless the human spirit is associated in any endeavour to understand the reality and thereby implementing the concepts for the welfare of mankind, the present day global problems cannot be resolved. Maharishi's book on the Philosophy of Universal Magnetism and its applications to the various branches of science like physics, chemistry, genetics, sociology, psychology, etc. is really based on Maharishi's research, introspection and his ability to bring down the mental frequency to a subtler level to experience without uncertainity the nature of reality. I have no doubt in my mind that an unbiased, in-depth study and understanding will not only benefit the reader but also through him produce a multiplier effect which will benefit the society. Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi, the Founder-President of World Community Service Centre, was born in 1911 in a suburb of Madras, India
